Reach your potential!

NeurOptimal  Neurofeedback

Release chronic pain or old, outdated behavioral patterns!

A healthy person’s brain is resilient enough to bounce back after trauma. Those without a balanced brain may become stuck in hopelessness and helplessness.

What Is It?

Brainwave technology is a gentle, safe and non-invasive healing process that allows the brain to see where it is not functioning properly and to self-correct and reorganize itself.  The brain controls our entire central nervous system.  NeurOptimal  sessions allow the brain to shift between the left side and the right side in a more efficient manner while creating new pathways. It, also, brings balance to whole brain, to create wellness. Results are superior to other biofeedback/neurofeedback systems as there is no manipulation by the practitioner and nothing is put or transmitted into the client’s brain.

How Does It Work?

NeurOptimal Feedback Brainwave Technology

Patient having a NeurOptimal Session

The client sits in a comfortable chair and is given a blanket and a set of ear buds so they can listen to the music.  Sensors, with conductive paste are placed on the scalp and ears.  Those sensors are connected to a computer with a default system regulated within the software which transmits their brainwave to the NeuorOptimal program.

The facilitator and client can then view on the monitor exactly how the left and right parts of the brain are functioning and where the dysfunction lays.  When brain activity shows signs of turbulence, the music within the NeurOptimal software is momentarily interrupted.  The very precise timing of these interruptions gives the brain vital information to reorganize itself and operate more optimally.

With repeated training sessions, the brain learns to “reset” itself and function more smoothly.

Why Use NeurOptimal?

The left brain is the intellectual part of the brain which deals with problem solving, such as mathematics, science, and structured learning and usually has greater organizational skills.  The right side is the intuitive and creative expression such as artists, musicians and visionaries & healers.

An example of a person with imbalanced brainwaves is a scientist who lives in the physical reality only and is very logical and structured in his daily behaviors but who may have difficulty expressing his creative side.  Another example might be an artist who is able to visualize but yet is unable to market themselves.  ie. linear vs. holistic thinking.

A healthy functioning brain enables one to focus on and pay attention to daily situations. How well the brain functions is a critical factor because it controls the way we respond to stressors.

Different parts of the brain provide different functions.  When a healthy brain shifts from one part to the other, in a self-regulating way or balanced manner, we handle life situations more productively and with the ability to move forward in life with better choices.  A healthy person’s brain is resilient enough to bounce back after trauma.  Those without a balanced brain may become stuck in hopelessness and helplessness.

Brain can malfunction due to:

  • substance abuse
  • medications
  • accidents
  • trauma
  • genetic abnormalities

Most peoples’ brain functions are impaired to some extent, due to accumulated traumas and painful situations. The fluctuation of the brainwaves can cause extreme emotional highs and lows and those with people often find themselves in high drama situations.

The highs can result in hyper-activity or hyper-reactiveness and restless which can escalate to violence and destructive or self-destructive behaviour.

Traumas can cause the brain and nervous system to operate too slowly, as well, so a person may appear to be emotionally frozen or appear lazy.  People with low brain function learn coping methods to hide their lack of confidence and fear of trying new things and may possibly be unable to excel in school, work and athletics.

In reality, people with high or low fluctuations in the brainwave have fewer problem-solving skills than a person with a healthy, balanced and resilient brain, who handle situations in a calm, clear, non-reactive manner.

There will always be various stressors in our daily lives, such as conflict at work.  NeurOptimal Brainwave helps make the brain more resilient so individuals are able to cope better with future challenges. Whether those challenges are minor daily incidents or major life crises, NeurOptimal also opens up new pathways in the brain, so people can recognize new opportunities and access their potential.

Who Can We Help?

We help people, of all ages (including infants), genders, religions, nationalities, cultures and sexual preference and even those in a coma.  The following are just a few of the challenges that can be improved:

  • Depression & anxiety
  • ADHD & ADD & Learning disabilities
  • Trauma victims & war veterans
  • Sleep problems & patterns
  • Brain & other injuries & most illnesses/Chronic Pain
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Heart, high blood pressure & stroke
  • Addiction & substance abuse (drug & alcohol)
  • Anxiety caused by EMF “zaps” (Cell phones)
  • Repetitive Memory or learning difficulties
  • Negative, argumentative behaviour patterns
  • Behaviour & Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Impaired Immune system
  • Autism
  • Grief issues
  • Chemo “fog”
  • Lack of energy and/or loss of life force
  • Every day stresses
  • Many other conditions & problems

Benefits:

  • Clearer thinking & focus due to a balanced brain
  • Stop procrastination/perceptions of laziness
  • Being able to make better choices in daily situations & life, in general
  • Being able to take action, when required
  • Being responsive in a calm, rational behaviour
  • Spiritual awareness & higher consciousness
  • Creative expression
  • Relationship & marital conflict resolutions
  • Work, school & sports performance enhancement
  • Struggling, coping & low energy
  • Memory enhancement
  • Anti-aging & staying socially active & intellectually engagement

Sessions:

While the actual neurofeedback lasts approximately 35 minutes, the remainder of the one hour session is used to discuss the awareness of the benefits between sessions and analyze the client’s progress.

The number of brainwave sessions will vary, depending upon the client’s focus or condition.  Ten to twelve sessions of neurofeedback are generally recommended; some seeing immediate results and others after six sessions.  Brain injuries and long term issues may take twenty sessions or more.

*Note on Medications:
It is quite possible that people on medication will find that they can take less medication or possibly go off medications (Under doctors’ supervision only).  Clients should advise their doctor that they are undergoing brain balancing sessions to improve their emotions and physical state.

Side effects of NeurOptimal are minimum and can include feeling tired, sleepy and a little spacey after a session.

Results should be permanent unless there is another trauma or issue or if the client does not properly self-care ie. sufficient sleep, proper nutrition, working long hours,  etc.

History:

Neuroptimal
Neurofeedback has been used to improve brain functioning since the early 1970s. NeurOptimal neurofeedback, developed by Drs. Val & Sue Brown, in the early 1990s, have practitioners all over the world using this system and together, they have completed over 3 million sessions.

The Zengar Institute, founded by Dr. Sue Brown and Dr. Valdeane W. Brown, is the developer of the NeurOptimal / Neurofeedback:

Dr. Sue Cheshire Dermit Brown, Ph.D.:

Dr. Brown has career achievements in a variety of medical, psychological and academic environments.  In brief, her accomplishments include:

  • six degrees (two masters’ degrees and a Ph.D)
  • numerous academic excellence awards
  • publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Previously full time academic physician as an assistant professor in the dept. of psychiatry at S.U.N.Y Stony Brook Div. of Behavioural Medicine
  • In the past held a license for clinical psychologist and as a nurse

What People Say:

After having done six sessions of NeurOptimal therapy, I am very pleased with the results I’ve obtained so far.  I’m calmer and less irritable and less hyper-reactive, and clearer and more focused.  My sleep has improved to the point that I experience a deeper, more restful sleep, and have more energy to get through the day.  I dream more than I have in a long time.  Whereas, I used to be able to sleep for only 2-3 hours a night, I now sleep for 4-5 hours.  I seem to have greater insights and an increased sense of empathy for others.  In addition, my sex drive has improved.    – Jim Bramhill

My experience with Neurofeedback is that my sleep is sounder, I have more vivid dreams; I feel more grounded, centered and have more clarity to make better decisions.    – KN

In my sessions, I found that I am not so emotionally frozen and able to respond better to people in work and home situations.  I can stand up for myself, have an opinion and have conversations with others, now.  My low self esteem was a big issue before.    – DY
